The World President Mercedes Mayol Lassalle and the OMEP France president and OMEP Representative Gilles Petreault have been invited to participate in the inaugural meeting of UNESCO’s Technical Advisory Group (TAG), alongside delegates from prominent organizations such as GEM Report, ECDAN, and Regional Networks.
This inaugural meeting marks a pivotal step in advancing global commitments outlined in the Tashkent Declaration and the forthcoming Global Report on Early Childhood Care and Education 2026. The TAG will play a key role in monitoring the progress of these commitments and ensuring a collaborative approach to achieving sustainable goals for early childhood education.
A central focus of the meeting is the discussion and adoption of the 2024-2030 Roadmap, a document designed to provide strategic direction for the group in the years ahead. This roadmap emphasizes the critical importance of collective action in improving the quality, accessibility, and equity of early childhood care and education worldwide.
The members of UNESCO’s Technical Advisory Group (TAG) have been entrusted with a critical mission: to produce a comprehensive progress report on the commitments made under the Tashkent Declaration and to lead an active communication campaign.
The inclusion of OMEP in this initiative underscores the organization’s leadership and longstanding contributions to the field of early childhood education. As an active voice in global discussions, OMEP continues to advocate for the rights and development of young children across the globe.
Further updates on the outcomes and next steps following this meeting will be shared as they become available.
